Why Failure is Our Friend

FAILURE. We don’t like it. We avoid it. We hate it.

People do not like failure because of 2 things- It hurts and  it makes us feel bad about ourselves.

However, if we will shift our paradigm, we will see that failure is our friend.

Like a true friend…

failure makes us aware where we need to improve.

Failure points out our mistakes and weak points. It lets us know our areas for improvement. Every time we fail, we always learn something new from it.

failure tells us that we need to do better.

Whenever we fail, how sure are we that we have given our 100% on it? It may be hard to admit, but in my case, I usually fail when I do not give my all. Failure tells us not to settle on mediocrity. We should always exert our best efforts in everything that  we do!

failure makes us stronger.

Most successful people experienced a lot of failures in their lives before becoming successful. What makes them different is how they managed to stand again and chose not to give up. As a quote says, “the one who falls and gets up is so much stronger than the one that never fell.

failure lets us realize how much we want something.

If we dream or desire something and we fail trying to achieve it, are we going to persevere and try again? or will we just forget about it?

If we want something that much, we’ll keep pushing ourselves towards it. But if we fail and let go of that dream immediately, then perhaps it really didn’t mean that much to us after all.

failure tells us if something is not for us.

After numerous attempts and giving it our best shots, but still end up being unsuccessful, then perhaps it is not really for us. This is the time to consider other options and focus on the other things that we can do and excel into. Failure tells us we should try to discover and utilize our other potentials.

Always remember, it is better to fail than to never have tried at all. We can always be more than our failures!:)

Failure is the father of success. All success people were failure like USA President
Late Mr Labraham Lincoln, Mr Steve Jobs. so many other names in the history who created History after continuous failure.

Failure is just a beginning towards your goal. Failure is nothing is just, a mind set.

Fight for your dream not for social image.

Always a great reminder. I was in a team once where there culture had such a hard time embracing this. So my boss and I went out of our way when something would go wrong to 1) make light of it, because most often times it wasn’t a big issue; and 2) share with others what we learned. SLOWLY over time the mood shifted, but it wasn’t a ton. It was better than nothing and totally worth the effort though.

Yes, embracing failure at looking at it as an opportunity for learning and improvement is not always easy for some people (especially when pride or ego is hurt), but you’re right- better than nothing. I’m sure they’ll get to appreciate their failures when they become more successful in the future. 🙂 Thank you for your generous comment! I enjoy it when you guys share your experiences with me. 🙂

  30. “failure tells us if something is not for us” I strongly disagree with this statement. There is no such thing as “something is not for us”. Humans were all biologically built the same. What separates us from one another are our thoughts. If you fail multiple times at something it only means you have not learned from your past failures because if you had learned you would see slight improvements and that would motivate you to try more! As the great Connor Mcgregor said “There is no such thing as talent”.

    • Nina 2 years ago

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I respect your opinion. Although humans are built biologically the same, not all of us have the same capabilities & abilities. Our intelligence & adaptability could be enhanced by environmental factors (i.e. education & experience) but are limited by our genetic make-up or by the genes we acquired from our parents. Thus, I don’t believe humans are the same on this aspect.

      • It is true that we inherit certain traits from our parents but that does not make certain people “limited”. Our genetic composition is constantly changing based how we develop ourselves. The ability to push ourselves beyond our abilities is what makes us human.

I admire your positivity. Look at my point this way…many people wants to be a doctor but not all become a doctor. Why? Because it could be that they are not passing the course nomatter how many times they’ve taken it. Or some of them are necrophobic or even faints at just the sight of blood (innate), Or they don’t have the money to support their med school (outside factor).

One of the biggest mistakes we could ever make in life is being afraid of failure.

Failure is great feedback. It tells us that the path or direction or strategy we chose was not the correct one. In turn, giving us the opportunity to course correct and begin anew.

1% people are the success because of their 99% failure.
Failure teaches you, correct you, inspire you and the most important, motivate you to bring out the best of you.
