I’m sure many Filipinos are having a second thought today whether they made the right choice voting for Duterte. I can only sympathize with them. But on the other hand, I realized every choice we made whether good or bad always brings with it a blessing God may use to show His love for us.

Before the extrajudicial killings, too few people take heart with the disease of addiction in our country.  They are either scared, mad or lost in addressing this plague destroying individual and families. Some just don’t care.

But because of what is happening, several organizations both government and private and even the church is finding better ways of dealing with the issue. It may be far before we will be able to effectively deal with this menace in our society but at least we are making a step going there.

Now that the wrong choices were made the next thing to do is to focus on the present and be proactive in the future.  How many had been deceived by the propaganda delivered via social media appealing directly to our feelings without really thinking if he is the best choice or not?16 million? Perhaps. Think, think, think.

Until now, many people are still lured by the social media and all forms of media to act based on their emotions. Either they were angry, mad, and sad or scared. I don’t know how many are glad. The same propaganda used during the election is still appealing to our core feelings today so that we will never be able to think clearly again.

Clouded with our emotions we became blind with what we should focus on. We never really took the time to quiet down, be still, listen and learn. We keep repeating the wrong choices when we don’t think why we made them in the first place. As stupid as it may sound but it is. This is the reason why many of us never learned the lessons of the past.

The good news is that this is not the time to lose courage. Several passages in the bible talk about destructions, ruins, killings, plagues, terrible earthquakes, days of darkness, war and everything that we have today. Even God’s righteous people were troubled and afraid but it was repeatedly shown as well how they had always been taken cared of.

And God can make uses of pagan leaders to accomplish His will. Believers should never lose heart with the way our President express his views and his beliefs or disbeliefs. There is a loving God who sees it all and who can make used of everything for the good of the people whom He loves.

When I read this post, it feels like you’re saying those who voted for Duterte are just basing their decision based on emotion and social media. I, for one, am among those 16 million people who voted and believed in his leadership style, though I’m not a fan of how he talks. I already heard about his leadership records when I lived in GenSan. I did not base my decision on those factors. I do not regret voting for him and I’m eager to see that time he will deliver those campaign promises by the end of his term, not just after a year.

This is my first time to comment on such blog because each person makes his decisions on certain factors. But I agree in your last paragraph that God has good things in mind for those He loves.

Thank you for dropping by. Time and results will tell. Killing drug addicts will never solve the problem, it had been proven by many countries who did that, the reason they stop. Unless our president address his substance abuse issues and it’s effects on his behavior and his life in general, he will never be able to deal with the problems we have at the moment. His story shows, he started killing at the age of 17, he’s drunk then. It took him seven years to finish high school and many other troubles that follows. If we will look at his delinquency behavior when he was young we will understand why he is like that today. I am now doing a research on his drinking and substance abuse problem for all of us to see that we are run by someone who is physiologically sick and it was not his fault. He might be as lost as many sick people in our midst today. We are not here to condemn him or anyone else but to look at the problem squarely and soberly so that we can effectively address the issues. We do not have problem with his leadership style, our problem is his behavior and his handling of our country’s difficult situation.

I’ve been hearing a lot too among my classmates at school or even my parents about Pres. Duterte and his ways, but there is one good thing he has done which I realized lately—it is when he appointed former secretary Gina Lopez as Department of Environment and Natural Resources secretary (but because of the votes of the senate and congress, she was not made permanent)

Yes. I always believed Gina. I read an article about her many years back . We just pray for this country and for the president. He looks like out of his mind.

I wasn’t rooting for Gina Lopez, but at least she stood for something. I admire her courage but it isn’t enough that you have idealism behind you. And the current crop of Cabinet members are unprincipled lackeys.
