Welcome back to another edition of my infamous blog!  Today I would like to talk a little about patience… Breaking it down to what it actually means and how to find its limits within you.

First I want to start by the defined meaning of patience so we can all understand a little more clear.  I shall go with Wikipedia’s extended version on this one, I like a nice full grasp of this word so that is why I chose Wiki.  Patience: the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on negative annoyance/anger; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with long-term difficulties.  Wow.  Let’s go ahead and break that one down.

The state of endurance under difficult circumstances: the state, meaning a person’s particular mental emotional mood.  Under difficult circumstances: whatever the most challenging condition connected with an event or action, in most cases examples are work, health or relationships.  Which can mean persevering in the face of delay without acting on negative annoyance: being persistent with high hopes, staying positive, despite the difficulty or time of the situation.  Exhibiting forbearance when under strain: displaying self-control under an excessive, continuous force.  Awesome isn’t it.

So what does this really mean?  To have self-control and stay positive during difficult times.  When you look at patience, from the “having” side of things, you see the light, you see the outcome, you see the goal.  No matter what it may be that will tickle your brain to think of the worst, you don’t.  Of course this is not something that everyone posses, especially at a younger age, it is nourished over time and takes a lot practice to be unsurpassed in this mindset, so if you don’t have it and want it, you have got to implement it into your daily situations, period.

Now that we talked about what patience is, lets talk about what are its limits.

Just like anything in life, there is a limit, a point, a level beyond which something does not pass.  When it comes to patience, being pushed to all of that….lets just say things are not the most comfortable of situations to be in.

To figure out one’s limit, you need to have these factors in mind.  1) Pinpoint the triggers.  If you don’t know what sets you off about a situation, you won’t be able to control it, plain and simple.  Sit down and make a list of what causes you to have tension, anxiety, frustration, etc…  2) What is the hurry?  I get it, you have to make shit happen right?  yeah, me too.  Responsibilities, stressed, or just have OCD like me and things need to just happen already.  Stop being silly.  What’s that saying….learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for the future.  Live in the present time for once and enjoy each day as it is, it only happens once.  3) Manage your symptoms.  Once you figured out the triggers and decided to live in the moment, take those deep breaths in, relax the body, practice moving  and speaking slower, try to actively listen better, heck if none of those work, try anger management techniques. (Don’t worry I haven’t quite made it there yet but probably should give it a try).  At the end of the day, all of these signs can lead to being impatient, make sure you decide what side you are on.

Facing difficult challenges in our life is not something to be taken lightly.  The easy road of being impatient in these quarrels can lead to an even bigger challenge in the future.  Make sure you are doing your due diligence as a righteous human being, and try to stay patient, things will always work out just fine, I promise.

Thanks for joining me, I really enjoyed writing this one, its been a long time coming for me and it feels really good to let it out for you all.  Until next time… Ciao.

Superb post, Mookie. Patience is gradually becoming a rare commodity. I do hope someday, a research could unearth the causative factors.
