1. What is God’s will for me today?

I’ve been a self-will run riot in the past. It leads me nowhere and it is damn right exhausting. I shut off and tell God, “ok have it your way.”  Every morning, I take a few moments reading His word, praying and writing. Those routines help me find the directions and mission of my life in the long run. I started to feel at peace and find a way to handle the situation that used to trouble me. A few months ago, one of my coworkers visited us at home during my 4-week vacation and she was venting to me about the situation at work, she was not happy and was angry at the boss. She was on the verge of handing in her resignation letter, it was that bad. So while we were talking, I didn’t realize that my son was listening while he was playing with his legos. It was too late when I realized it:

It is our concept of normal, which restricts and constricts us.

And there are so many versions of ‘being normal’, that one never gets around to being totally acceptable. Yet, parents, teachers, and priests keep struggling to propagate their own concepts of acceptable behavior.  Excellence is deemed to lie in reproducing published answers from a scripture or book, not raising questions.

I have lived life in the jungles with long periods of time in isolation which has changed my life and perspective on many things but one greater than all is friendship. Some of my heroes and those I respect who have accomplished amazing things in this world, have relationships with those who believed in them, encouraged them, prayed for them, and even sacrificed to see their goal accomplished. So how do you meet “those” kind of people. The answer may not be what you think. Often in this world, we look for those who are more successful, richer than us, and more powerful because we think that will help us. But, let me share with you the kind of friendships you should have in your life to help you reach your goals, to bring happiness, to endure with you, to empower you, and encourage you when times get tough.

Soul (1 min read)

Maintaining balance in your life requires keeping your soul healthy. You probably have gathered this bit of information by now if you’ve read my FIRST (yay!) two posts. What is your soul? It’s that part of you that you know is there, but you just can’t quite describe. It’s what makes you-you  -your essence if you will. If you’re neglecting this aspect of yourself, just as with the mind & body, you will become out of balance.

You may say, “I’m not religious” or “I don’t believe in that kind of stuff,” but even if you’re agnostic or atheist (which by the way, I’m a Christian & I truly do not judge those who don’t have my same beliefs), you still have a spiritual component to your “self,” & if you’re not nurturing it, you’re neglecting a third of your being.

As a Christian, I nurture my soul through many different outlets, including daily devotions, prayer, meditation, yoga, & maintaining healthy relationships with others. If you don’t have the same spiritual beliefs as I do, rest assured you can still nurture your soul. You can do this through meditation,  yoga, & maintaining healthy relationships to feel connected to something larger than yourself. These activities don’t have to be religious-focused. No matter your spiritual beliefs, or lack thereof, you still have a soul that needs to be nurtured and maintained. I hope you have a wonderful balanced week!

I’m sure many Filipinos are having a second thought today whether they made the right choice voting for Duterte. I can only sympathize with them. But on the other hand, I realized every choice we made whether good or bad always brings with it a blessing God may use to show His love for us.
