Most people destroy their career in which they spent years to build. In many instances , your hard work for years in building your career can be dashed to the ground by indulging in some practices which creates negative consequences.

1. Avoid office politics.
Learn to stick to strategies that you will be proud to discuss in front of your colleagues. Avoid every behind-the-scene manipulations that would make you embarrassed, if brought to light.
2. Don’t say what you are not willing to do.
Always be realistic about the result you are willing to deliver. One danger you should avoid is to over promise and under deliver. Doing these will keep you in a relaxed state towards the achieved of your goals.
3. Be willing to learn at all times.
If you are not willing to learn new things or expand your knowledge bank, you will never be at the top of your career. A commitment to constant growth and development gives you the capacity to face whatever comes your way.
4. Believe in the inevitability of change.
Change is something that you must learn to live with , if you must advance in your professional life.

Whether you believe in it or not, it’s just there. So why wasting mush energies resisting it ? You have to learn how to adapt to change for your career to move to another level.
5. Be a volunteer.
Well you may say this is a sign of showing off. But the fact is that your willingness to stand up in time of necessity can catapult you to the top of your career.

Learn to volunteer for new assignment and make sure it is given the best of care and attention. Definitely you will gradually start making yourself indispensable.
6. Improve your emotional intelligence.
Lack of emotional intelligence will do more harm than good to your career. Learn to be in control of your emotions, no matter the situation you may find yourself.
Avoid outburst with your fellow colleagues, never look down on anyone, and learn to listen to what others have to say without interruption. These shows a personality with a well developed emotional intelligence and self-control.
