“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.” —Muhammad Ali

What is a voluntarism? Is volunteering about money? Should we measure it that way? Most people would say NO. I started volunteering in 2014. From then till now, I have gained lots that the four walls of education never revealed to me. There’s value in volunteering and I have tapped from such value over time. Being a product of voluntarism, this is true.

Voluntarism is a life – long and significant journey of seeing yourself as part of the community through giving, contributing, and helping other individuals and the community at large. It is engaging with others to make a meaningful contribution to a better community.

It’s not always easy to feel grateful, especially when the skies are gray and our workload seems never ending. As the day trudges by with the minutes feeling like hours on our mood drops, our shoulders sag and with furrowed brows, we find ourselves wishing for the day to end. But while we are busy wishing away our lives we could be busy reminding ourselves of why we love it, for it is in these moments when reacquainting ourselves with gratefulness is the most important and beneficial.

1)  Trust: If you do not trust one another the relationship will crumble real fast. Being honest and staying honest keeps drama and other people out of relationship. When you trust each other you do not need to go through one another’s phone, constantly check each others  social media, or go behind and check that they are where they say they are.

No, no…NOT that silly goose.   I would never ask you to FAKE “IT”!!! lol

I’m referring to a task I simply abhor…COOKING. In 18 plus years of marriage and raising a child, I somehow mastered the art of “faking it.” (in the kitchen)   Faking it…reluctantly dispensing stodgy food from my kitchen about 3 times a week to appease my hubby and teenager.

Why Fashion Week is so Important (1 min read)

When we think of Fashion Week, our minds usually conjure up images of the fashion elite sitting coolly in front rows of high-end, highly anticipated runway shows. Although this is true, Fashion week is mainly targeted at those who work in the fashion industry. Fashion week is a work event.

Imagine you own your own small business. You have two weeks in a year to display your half year’s work. You have to make it count! You would cram in as many meetings with investors, marketers, and media moguls as you possibly could as this would be your main chance at spreading the word about your products. Same goes for Fashion Week.

We tend not to consciously acknowledge the fact that the fashion media tells us what we love. The fashion media elite attend fashion weeks and pick and choose what they want us to love. These fashions eventually trickle down to all of us and remain in our minds as the newest and most lust-worthy. These fashions are only a very small percentage of what is actually shown during fashion week and if we want to see it all, it takes quite a bit of time and research.

Knowing that the items shown at fashion week will be ultimately controlling our fashion choices for the next year (or two!) is what makes Fashion Week a much-anticipated event. Just like mathematics can predict world events, being familiar with the newest fashion before everyone else can predict a plethora of marketing and social media phenomena.

Not just anyone can score a ticket to shows during Fashion Week, as tickets aren’t available to the public. In most cases, one must be invited to attend to soak up the lovely colors and fabrics floating down the runway.

So check out the latest shows and see if you agree with what the fashion media chooses for us to love!
