I have lived life in the jungles with long periods of time in isolation which has changed my life and perspective on many things but one greater than all is friendship. Some of my heroes and those I respect who have accomplished amazing things in this world, have relationships with those who believed in them, encouraged them, prayed for them, and even sacrificed to see their goal accomplished. So how do you meet “those” kind of people. The answer may not be what you think. Often in this world, we look for those who are more successful, richer than us, and more powerful because we think that will help us. But, let me share with you the kind of friendships you should have in your life to help you reach your goals, to bring happiness, to endure with you, to empower you, and encourage you when times get tough. I’ve been there, I feel like a lot of people have. The time in your life where you either watch an inspirational movie or see someone on Instagram with an amazing physique and think “I’m going to get on my gym grind and get shredded!”. So the next week you start up and begin to actually enjoy yourself with the health benefits that come along with exercise, but after that initial week or month is up you quickly realize that it’s a very challenging and long commitment if you want to get results. This realization causes so many to become discouraged and slowly drift away from the gym, I went through this stage 3 times my first year of training before I fully engaged myself. It’s a vicious cycle that will keep you in it’s path unless you find these 3 key factors. Continue reading How to Commit Yourself to the Gym (2 min read)

On my blog, Ask Kat Anything, I frequently get questions sent in from my readers. One question that I get often is, ‘How can I learn to say no?’.

In our people pleasing culture, women are taught that we have to put others needs above our own. We are taught that what we want and need is of secondary importance. We are taught that being polite, selfless and subservient is an essential part of womanhood.

I watched an online talk between ‘Noam Chomsky’ & ‘Yanis Varoufakis’ the former Greek Finance minister and was amazed at the state of peace, calmness and easiness that filled the talk. Prof. Chomsky didn’t seem at all in a battle to set the tone during and demonstrate who has the upper hand when it comes to knowledge & experience; he was sitting in total ease, calmly and peacefully with a self filled with confidence. I watched and noticed how he has nothing to prove for the world, not even that he’s an expert, top scholar and one of greatest intellectual figures alive. He didn’t occupy himself on showing the world that man sitting opposite to him whom is very young has got to do a lot in order for him to catch up with him, he had let the Greek minister do much of the talking! Well that is how confident people behave! Continue reading The Builders of the Future (2 min read)

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.” —Muhammad Ali
What is a voluntarism? Is volunteering about money? Should we measure it that way? Most people would say NO. I started volunteering in 2014. From then till now, I have gained lots that the four walls of education never revealed to me. There’s value in volunteering and I have tapped from such value over time. Being a product of voluntarism, this is true.
Voluntarism is a life – long and significant journey of seeing yourself as part of the community through giving, contributing, and helping other individuals and the community at large. It is engaging with others to make a meaningful contribution to a better community.
