Why is Real Fur Still in Fashion? (1 min read)

Hello Readers,

Fur has been a controversial topic in fashion for many years now and many designers still use fur within their collections. Peta are well known for protesting at many live fashion shows, throwing red paint over the designer’s creations. They had a massive campaign featuring several celebrities like P!nk, Eva Mendes, Khloe Kardashian, Taraji P. Henson called ‘I would rather go naked than wear fur’.

Many designers don’t use fur at all or just use faux fur within their collections. Calvin Klein was the first big designer to announce to no longer use fur within his collections after Peta crashed his offices to protest. He had a meeting with them and he was convinced never to use fur again. Many other designers have since also joined Calvin in the no fur campaign e.g. Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood and Tommy Hilfiger to name just a few.

Does a designer really need to use real fur? Faux fur has been around since 1910 and has been going from strength to strength since and now looks amazing and feels great to. With faux fur looking just as good in my opinion as real fur, is there a need for real fur.

The animals that are being used within the fur trade are cruelly treated. The conditions they live in are squalor. They are poorly fed and are very rarely fed. The animals are normally still alive when they are skinned. No animal deserves to go through this treatment. No animal deserves to go through any of this, especially just for an item of clothing.

More designers need to make the change for their collections. Real fur was never needed on the runway and it deserves to be given the boot. Is the cruelty the animals suffer really worthwhile so that an item of clothing has the extra pizzazz? NO!!! I love fashion, I love keeping up the latest trends but not at the expense like this.

If you are undecided about this topic, then please just do a little bit of research on how the animals are treated and hopefully you will see how the torment they go through is not worth it just a piece of clothing

Guilt is a deep emotional experience that you have when you commit an act that goes against your own moral standards of conduct. There are varying levels of guilt that are determined by the circumstances surrounding the action that caused guilt to form. Regardless of the severity of the guilt, feeling guilty, or believing that you are guilty, is not easy to deal with. However, the first step in winning this struggle is to admit to your actions. Take responsibility whether you do it within yourself, or with someone else. Then, take some time to meditate on what you said, or did. Ask yourself: What motivated me to do this? Could I have done anything differently? Is there any way to may this situation better? How can I avoid this from happening again? Finally, think of some positive things you can do, and do them. For instance, help an elderly neighbor, give a homeless person a meal, reward a hardworking employee, call family members that you rarely speak with, or donate to a charity. It’s important to own your actions. Try to take steps to make it better, and endeavor to change your course, by doing positive things. Positivity always helps to erase negativity, but if you don’t do positive things genuinely, you will regress and fall back into to feelings of guilt.

How to Use Procrastination to Your Advantage (2 min read)

Procrastination is a major dream killer. It as done so many evils to the dreams and aspirations of many. We have all in one way or the other fallen to the dictate of procrastination.

In as much as we can go all draw out a long list of uncountable amounts of negativities that can be linked to procrastination, there are still some underlining benefits that we can get from procrastination.

One question we should ask ourselves is this: Why do we procrastinate?  According to Anthony Robbins, in his book AWAKEN THE GIANT WITHIN. He points to the fact that we can change a particular behavior if we can link so much pain to such behavior and pleasure to the new behavior we intend to develop.

Taking this into account shows the fact that procrastination is mainly caused by fear of pain and failure.

The pain approach

So, for you to use procrastination to your advantage, you need to first, link so much pain to your present activities, that the urge for change becomes so strong that you can’t take it for a second.

For instance, you want to quit smoking, you should start linking all the negative consequences of smoking that you can think about.

This will make you develop a strong hatred for smoking and make you stay clear of every environment where smoking occurs. Also, it, in turn, makes you look for a more desired replacement.

The flip side approach

Another method is that you need to ask yourself these questions: What do I procrastinate? The things I procrastinate are they of value to me? What are those things of lesser values that are taking my time?

After you are able to answer these, you decide to take actions on things of greater values, while you procrastinate those activities of lesser values.

The pleasure approach

Finally, we can get things done quickly and better if we can link so much pleasure to such behaviors or activities. We are doing what we do at present because we have this subconscious linkage of pleasure to such. So if you are able to link pleasure to things of value in your life, you will see yourself using procrastination to your advantage.
