The layout of your website is what your visitors see when they first arrive. It is your website’s first impression. So, are you planning to change the look of your website? With these tips, you’ll learn how to design your own website without spending a dime.

Look for a software that can help you with your design.

Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are some of the software that can help you design your own logo, icon and such. Learn how these software works. There are a lot of tutorials that you can search on. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll never have to pay anyone to design your logo.

Learn some programming language.

To better understand  how your website works, you have to learn some programming language. For example, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) – this is where you can edit the look of your website when you upgraded your plan to premium (wordpress). Learning CSS will help you tweak and style your website.

Time and patience.

Designing your own website takes a lot of time and dedication. Don’t rush on designing. Patience is important and work one thing at a time. Always check if the codes are working so you’ll know if it works and you like how it looks. Lastly, be open on learning new things because technology changes over time.

I’m helping someone out right now with developing their website and it’s taking a lot longer than I expected it to. It’s weebly, and because it’s an online store, it takes at least 4-5 minutes to put in one product (since I also have to set up prices, photos, SEO, etc.) Even the design took me about three to four days to set up so the website home page looked presentable, despite being given over hundreds of templates and font options to work with.

It definitely takes a lot of patience, and I think people often forget that, assuming these new web tools lately will make the process a lot quicker. Nope. While we now have more options to work with, it’s still a lot of work involved and it takes a while.

Thanks for sharing! Totally agree. 🙂

I agree.. Being open to learning is the key. I want to learn graphic designing, that’s in my monthly goals. I know it’s not something one can learn in such a short time but I will try and learn as much as possible. 😇

CSS is not really a language, but, as you said, it is a must to develop any website.
