There are moments in life where you can really feel defeated. When it feels like you were knocked down and can’t seem to catch a break, it is a terrible feeling and you can feel really helpless. You have to be able to pick yourself back up though and keep trying. When it seems really hard to do so, there are some helpful things you can try out to keep yourself going.
1. Positive self talk
When you are going through a rough patch, negative thoughts can get into your head really easily. If you don’t stop them from happening it can be really damaging to your self-esteem. You still are a person full of potential and opportunity. If you didn’t get the job you were wanting, that just leaves the door open to get an even better job. Remind yourself of what you have accomplished already and how that made you feel.
2. Get up and move
Exercise is beneficial in so many ways. Your body is healthier and it also helps your brain. It gets your blood flowing and increases energy. When you sit around all day every day, you can feel like you have less energy, which won’t help out feelings of being defeated. When you get up and go for a walk or run, you can not only change your scenery a little bit but also relieve stress. There are many ways you can exercise your body. Find one you enjoy and keep it up!
3. Talk it out
If you are stressed or feeling down, one of the worst things you can do is keep your feelings bottled up. If you talk to someone you know and trust about how you feel, it will make you feel so much better. Whether its a parent, a friend, or your pet, talking it out or even writing it down will release a weight off your shoulders. The trusted person may even have some helpful advice for you or encouraging words that can help you feel better and keep trying.
Everyone has feelings of being defeated, but there are still many great things out there for you to find!
