I like MILK a lot. I chug it right from the jug without shame or permission. I can tip a gallon jug like nobody’s business. Me and my Mr. Chicken Fry come from a long line, generations, and generations, of milk drinkers. We pour a glass, we fill up cereal bowls, we stir it into our coffee and mix in some chocolate on occasion.
Out of all of the numerous milk fans in our family, not one of our grandparents or parents were and still is overweight. All family members have lived long lives and had strong bones. We wear our milk mustaches proud.
The commercials are accurate, milk does the body good! Real real good!
Have you ever met a loud mouth Mrs. Soinso? A lady who boastfully verbalized her negative opinions on you?
My teenager, whom I refer to as a baby girl, took a long road trip last Summer with another family for a lacrosse tournament. I knew upfront that “the mother” was a little over the top in terms of healthy eating. I knew she was the type to freeze dry and homemade beef and turkey jerky. I knew that she was the mom who restricts her children’s carb intake. What I didn’t expect was for “mom” to opinionate my impressionable tween daughter with her warped foodie views. Particularly about good old fashioned ice-cold milk.
The “mom” told my daughter and I quote, “drinking milk will make you fat!” She busted out the ultimate F-word on my girl! FAT! She actually said those very words to my child and two others girls within an earshot backed it up. Have you ever?
Healthy Hitler further ranted on about the negative benefits of yogurt, bacon, eggs, burgers, cereals and other “fine” normal foods that growing tween/teen athletic girls should avoid. For one week I allowed this woman, who’s audience was four young female teen athletes, to speak this horrific language! UGHH. I was appalled that she would say such crass things to these dolls. I feel sorry for her own children. Seriously, hello… I’m all about clean healthy eating and good nutrition but I would NEVER in a million years tell someone’s kid not to drink milk.
My comedic child gracefully takes things in stride. While on the trip, she called me and said, “Mom, Mrs. Soinso makes you look like the Cookie Monster.” I asked her to clarify what she meant. “Mom, she is so strict with her daughter’s eating. Compared to her, life in our house is like living in Candy Land.” I laughed for weeks.
As you will see, whole milk and 2% milk do contain fat. Skim milk, however, has zero fat. Skim milk has ALL of the same vitamins and nutrients that 2% milk contains minus the…say it with me…FAT!
And I can promise you… cross my heart hope to die to stick a thousand needles in my eye that MILK has been responsible for absolutely ZERO people getting fat!Especially skim milk which is what I and my family drink! Milk is a good source of protein. Someone would have to drink gallons and gallons of whole milk a day to get FAT from Milk.

FYI: Chocolate milk is one of the best recovery drinks to gulp down after a long run or bike ride!
