I could skip writing this whole blog post and tell you how to live without stress in one word: ORGANIZE! Simply, that’s the easiest way. But instead of leaving you with just that, I am here to teach you how and what to organize!
Organize Your Computer
If you are like me, you spend a lot of time on the computer. Whether it be doing homework, writing a blog post, watching Netflix, or all of the above, the computer is a very important part of life! If it is cluttered and full of pop ups, it can stress you out even if you don’t notice!
If your computer is somewhat put together, go through and delete what you don’t need! Those photos you backed up to your computer, do you really need all of them? Organize everything on your desktop into folders! Clear out your bookmarks!
Is your computer past the point of no return? This is what happened for me. My advice would be to start over. I used to not even want to touch my laptop because of all of the viruses that infected it. I suggested backing up all of the important files and photos on your computer to Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc. And then do a complete reset. For me, this got rid of all of the viruses and now I love going on my computer!
Clean out your Email
Are you one of those people who make new emails just to avoid cleaning out your junk mail email? Well stop it! Take an hour and go through your email. Delete all of the junk mail and emails from ten years ago. It will clear your head because it feels so great to get rid of things you don’t need!
Clean up your Social Media
Not only is this a good way to relieve stress, it is also a good business move. Remember those old embarrassing photos from that party? Delete them! It will help you to relieve stress! Go through and delete old or embarrassing tweets! Many schools and employers go through an applicant’s social media, so delete everything you wouldn’t want them to find!
Clean your Room
I do apologize if I sound like your mother, but hear me out! Cleaning your room helps to clear your head more than anything. Throw out or donate things you don’t need. Organize your desk. Clean your closet. Clean under your bed. Make your bed. Having a calm and peaceful “habitat” will really help you relieve stress, I promise!
Clean your Desk
As I previously mentioned, cleaning your desk or workspace is extremely important! Organize any loose cords, organize your notebooks or papers, organize your pens, and just clean off your desk space!
Organize your purse/wallet/handbag/briefcase!
Do you really need that Chipotle receipt from four months ago? Probably not. Clean out all of your receipts, gum wrappers, and things you don’t need!
Organize your Phone!
I understand that not everyone loves to sort their apps into folders, but find some way to organize your apps! Whether it be by color, alphabetical, folders, anything! Also delete any apps your don’t use. It will make it easier to find things! An organized life = a stress free life!

If you watched the movie Limitless, (One of my favorite inspirational movies) one of the first things he does after he becomes super smart, is organize and clean his messy apartment and work space. Organizing and de-cluttering is necessary for success, one less thing to worry about.

Great post! This is so helpful. I am college student and I am always stressed out. It’s really not the big things it the small things I stress over. I now understand that being organized is the missing key of my life. I do have a planner but it gets used only when I have big projects. This really brought some Zen to my life.
Great tip…would be great if you check out my blog 🙂

Wow… you hit the nail on the head here Kaila. You’re so right, nothing stresses us out than having clutter everywhere. Physical clutter equals mental clutter which leads to STRESS!
Thanks for sharing. I recently wrote a similar article about clutter on my blog, feel free to give it a read: http://www.pocketfulofsmiles.com/declutter-your-life/
