We all have those days where we just can ‘t be bothered, or we feel down but don’t quite know why. It’s totally natural and we all go through it. Here are some tips to beat the down in the dumps slump, and get back to feeling happy and full of life!
Prioritize! A lot of the time we simply act on what we want rather than what we need. We act on impulse for short term gain, and sacrifice the things that really matter in the long term. Allow some time for you to sit down and really think about what you want from life. Do you want to find a new job? Do you need to save for a house? Do you want to run a marathon? Whatever it is, decide on it and write it down! Writing it down is almost like a commitment. It’s official once it’s on paper! If you really want to be focused, you could break down your goals into the steps that need to be taken. Keep track of your progress, and if you get tempted along the way, ask yourself is it worth sacrificing your goal.
Next up is mindfulness. Practising being mindful has a whole range of benefits. It can improve both your mental and physical health. Being mindful involves being aware of your thoughts and surroundings, noticing them but not judging. If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, practising this can be really helpful. A great way to do this is through meditation. There are loads of meditation videos on YouTube you can follow. Or there’s a brilliant app called Headspace which is available on Android and Apple. There’s a free 10 day trial which gives you 10 minute sessions every day to help you get started on your journey.
Finally love yourself! Taking time out of your day to do something you love will greatly help you to be more relaxed and happy. Go play your favourite sport, get your hair done or go for a long walk. Whatever it is make sure it’s something you really love. Take pride in your appearance and health. Looking good and feeling good can have a huge impact on your confidence and mood. So why not do it! Finally, try not to focus on the negative things. We can all be overly critical of ourselves, and tend to focus on the negative more than the positive. Try writing down three things you are grateful for everyday. This could be done first thing in the morning, or before bed. It’s a great way to reflect on life and appreciate what you have.

Love this post! Simple, and straight to the point. What you said about prioritizing is so true! I’m only productive if I make lists of things to do. I feel great when I finish something on my list and cross it out, it’s energizing 🙂
Thank you ? I’m exactly the same! I have to make lists! There’s something so satisfying about being able to cross a task out!
Thank you for this! It was so simple, but straight to the point and I so needed to read it!
I’m glad you liked it! 🙂
I love this post! It’s so true, those three steps are just what I need to be doing.
Thank you! 🙂 I think we all need to take a little more time to check in with ourselves and how we’re feeling.
nice one
A great fan of To-do’s always feel like I’m on top of the world when I cross over my achievements. It makes me be more productive too. ?
Much love, George

Great post
This is so true love this post 🙂
Simple, yet so true. I personally think more people should try meditating. I think many don’t even give it a chance, but it’s definitely worth trying! It oddly helps quite a lot!
I think alot of people are sceptical at first, and probably don’t really know where to begin. But I have to say practicing mindfulness and the use of meditation changed my life. It helped me control my panic attacks!
Well said !!
Great post. I wish I could do the meditation and have tried a couple of times, BUT could never get the hang of it. Any tips? Thanks!
I like the part about prioritizing! Impulsiveness can throw us in the deep end with a life vest! Your right when you say that we need to figure out what we need first! Nice 🙂

Thank you so much for this….simple but easy to forget….
The love yourself part spoke to me I’m finally starting to pay more attention to myself and loving me more.
I totally agree!
To spend a few minutes each day writing down three things for which you are grateful is an excellent way of feeling positive. If you write them down on a small piece of paper, and put them in a jar or a box, by the end of the month you have a treasury of things that have been good in your life!
Great post ?
The truth
Mindfulness changed my life! Especially writings by jon kabat-zinn! So often we are thinking about 10 different things in the future as opposed to living in this moment.
i’ve been using mindfulness to overcome nearly all my obstacles in life. This is a super awesome post i totally agree with you! Totally the truth
This post made me happy. Thank you.
When you open your eyes in the morning, say to yourself, “I choose happiness today. I choose success today. I choose right action today. I choose love and goodwill for all today. I choose peace today.” Pour life, love, and interest into this affirmation, and you have chosen
happiness.

This post helps me a lot, thank you!!
Focusing on things that matter and on the blessings in your life helps staying positive and happy.
Thanks so much for this post. Prioritising is a great reminder that we should try to do the things that make us happy in the long term, rather than the quick fixes 🙂
