Addiction doesn’t have to be just a drug and/or alcohol. It can be an activity of something that you constantly do compulsively. Whether it’s sex, OCD, stalking, etc. -It’s all unhealthy! Have you ever tried seeking someone in the church to help heal that addiction? Sometimes we miss the need for the healing, because we either feel that God won’t forgive us for how big the sin is. Maybe even there’s a root of a problem that lead you into the addiction.

First, forgive yourself and know that everyone goes through things. We might not tell the entire story of how we lead ourselves to be where we are, but there is a way out. When you choose to lean on the “temporary fix”, it only breaks you more to the point that the addiction becomes out of your control.

Seek professional help. Your addiction might not be a materialistic thing, but a need of some intangible element that you cannot seem to find (joy, peace, happiness, etc.). Don’t ever feel like your willingness to start over and ask God for forgiveness is out of reach. God loves us, no matter how terrible we might be about certain situations. It starts with healing for yourself. God loves those who are victims of addiction and hopelessness.

  1. Good Article! You echo the first three steps to recovery in NA.
    1. We admitted that we were powerless over our addiction; that our lives had become unmanageable. …
    2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. …
    3. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

Truly doing this will lead to better days. Check out my blog if you have time.

  2. Oh, and most importantly don’t fool yourself or let others do so into believing that your son is worse than others. Trust me there’s a lot of pedophiles praising God in the church pointing fingers at drug addicts are really trying to get well I’d rather be the drug addict

  3. There is a big relation between addiction and god.. i will post the greater relationship with addiction on my blog so, follow my blog and stay aware of finding correct answer on it, thank you!
